Program Basics A solid foundation in general management and business administration is essential to function effectively in a management position, because successful management depends on decisions that are based on a good understanding of the interplay of all factors involved in business processes. This two-semester course provides participants with a well-balanced generalist introduction to the key subject areas of business and management. In addition to a good balance between hard and soft business skills acquired during the course, interpersonal skills such as leadership and effective communication and presentation as well as self-management and teamwork are emphasized. Teaching methods in the classroom vary between subjects, but the general approach is a good mix of lectures and class discussions, case studies, and group work. All seminars and workshops have a strong practical business focus. Successful graduates profit from an increase in management confidence as well as from the acquisition of a set of tools to deal with business problems. Additionally, this course qualifies them for more advanced business degree programs.
